The 2010 Oklahoma State Championship Motocross Series kicked off the weekend of February 19th-21st at Woodland Hills Off Road Park in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Originally the first round of the ten round series was scheduled for
Reynard Raceway on February 5th-7th. Mother Nature decided that Oklahoma needed a real winter this year so snow and ice has been the driving force behind the cancellations of races. The round that is being hosted by Reynard Raceway is now scheduled for July 9th-11th.
Woodland Hills Off Road Park did a tremendous job of getting the track prepared for the first round. Jerry Weber, the owner of WHORP said, "It was a great challeng
e this week trying to get prepared for this race. Our track can take a tremendous amount of water because of the sandy soil. That is the only reason we were able to get this race in."
With temperatures hovering around 30 degrees, fog, and drizzle falling on Saturday, the little guys were just happy to get it over with. There sure was a lot of enthusiasm to get on their motorcycles but it sure wasn't their idea of having fun with them.
Sunday's weather brought pretty much the same conditions except that it started to rain this time. It was wet, muddy, and very cold for the first round of the OSCS. In total there was approxmiately 445 entries which is down a little from year's past but surely the conditions played the role.
Second round of the OSCS series is scheduled for this weekend March 5th-7th at Moto City Race Park in Blanchard, Oklahoma. The forecast is for Partly Cloudy skies with temperatures in the lower 60's. You can be sure that the dirt will be in great condition after all this winter moistue. Get out this weekend and put in some seat time with Oklahoma's largest motocross series the Oklahoma State Championship Motocross Series.
Results and series points from Round 1 are posted.
